REED CITY — The Orioles traveled to Reed City on Tuesday for a two-game series against the Coyotes. Ludington split the doubleheader, winning the opener 15-5 before dropping the second game 18-5.
Rayne Holtrust started in Game 1 for the Orioles, pitching all four innings. She struck out six, walked five and allowed just three hits.

In Game 2, Sarah Benz started on the mound, pitching two-thirds of an inning before Holtrust relieved her and finished the game. Holtrust struck out three in her second appearance.

“Getting that first win under their belts is big for these girls,” coach Maggie Bates said. “It shows all the hard work they’ve been putting in at practice.”
The Orioles will next face Fruitport on Thursday.
