LUDINGTON — The Orioles hosted the Mona Shores Sailors for a mid-afternoon match Wednesday, falling 2-0.
Ludington, fresh off dominant wins over Montague and Whitehall, was unable to get past Mona Shores, which snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Orioles kept the game scoreless heading into halftime. The Sailors broke through in the second half on a goal by Cassie Rout. Mona Shores extended its lead to 2-0 on a successful corner kick shortly after.
Mona Shores finished with six shots on goal, while Ludington had four.
Goalkeeper Cambria Britton limited the damage for Ludington, recording four saves. The Orioles’ back line — Norah Kiessel, Kaia Jones, Leeahna Veeneman and Alex Bousson — played well defensively, limiting scoring opportunities throughout the match.
With the loss, Ludington falls to 3-5-1. The Orioles will travel to Muskegon Oakridge on Monday for another West Michigan Conference game.
