LUDINGTON — K-9 Stella with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office located methamphetamine during a cell check at the Mason County Jail Sunday, April 5, around 5:30 p.m.
“A warrant is being requested for an inmate related to the suspected meth that was smuggled into the jail,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. The inmate, who was arrested the previous day on a warrant, could now face an additional charge of bringing contraband into the jail.

Friday, April 3, 2026:
- (Ludington Police Department), a 34-year-old Fountain man was charged with meth possession and cocaine possession following a search warrant in the 10000 block of North LaSalle Road, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the
Mason County Jail. The investigation and search warrant were completed with the assistance of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the State, Sheriffs’, Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT). - 1:49 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), retail fraud, a pair of flop-flops was stolen, Shoe Sensation, US 10, Pere Marquette Township. The case remains under investigation.
- 6:34 p.m., (MCSO), a vehicle was damaged, 2400 block of North 21st Street, Sheridan Township. The case remains under investigation.
- 9:03 p.m., (LPD), a 73-year-old Ludington man was arrested for public intoxication, 200 block of South James Street, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 10:32 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Gordon Road, Amber Township.
- 11:16 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Bean Road, Custer Township.
Saturday, April 4, 2026:
- 2:21 a.m., (LPD), a 45-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without insurance following a traffic stop, 800 block of East First Street, City of Ludington.
- 3:17 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Amber Township.
- 8:38 a.m., (MCSO), a 51-year-old Scottville man was arrested following a traffic stop on an outstanding felony sex offender warrant issued in Mason County, Main and Fourth streets, City of Scottville. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 4:04 p.m., (LPD), a 54-year-old Ludington man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver of methamphetamine and child endangerment following an incident in the 300 block of Sherman Oaks Drive, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 5:37 p.m., (MCSO), a 42-year-old Manistee woman was arrested for meth possession following a traffic stop in which she was a passenger, 700 block of East US 10, Custer Township. A 39-year-old Baldwin man, also a passenger, was arrested on an outstanding Mason County failure to appear warrant. The driver, a 45-year-old Walhalla man, was cited for second-offense driving while license suspended, improper license plate and operating without insurance.
- 11:50 p.m., (MCSO), an 18-year-old Scottville man was arrested on an outstanding Mason County failure to appear warrant, US 31 and Countyline Road, Grant Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
Sunday, April 5, 2026:
- 9:32 a.m., (MCSO), a 39-year-old Ludington woman was cited following a traffic stop for driving while license revoked, US 10 and Tuttle Road, Custer Township.
