Obituary: Earl William Standish Jr., 70, of Ludington

Earl William Standish Jr., 70, of Ludington, passed away peacefully Friday, March 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born May 5, 1955, in Ludington, the son of the late Florence Maxine (Bailey) Standish and Earl William Standish Sr. He graduated from Mason County Eastern High School in 1973.

On July 17, 1976, he married Kathleen Ann McClure. They shared 49 years together, building a life centered on family.

Earl worked for many years as a mechanic for the Ludington Mass Transit Authority. His passion for mechanics extended beyond his career, as he spent much of his free time working on and restoring old cars.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and spending time in nature. Earl especially cherished time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He was known for bringing family and friends together around a bonfire, where stories and laughter were often shared.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his daughter, Kristy (Kenny) VanSickle; his son, Shawn (Beth) Standish; six grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
