SCOTTVILLE — A warrant is being sought for a 42-year-old Fountain man after he allegedly made a fake 911 call Tuesday, March 24, shortly before 1 a.m.
Police are pursuing a charge of misuse of a 911 communication/filing a false police report
“He allegedly called 911 to report persons fighting on the Pere Marquette River Bridge south of Scottville,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “A Mason County sheriff’s deputy was two blocks away from the call and did not notice anyone in the area.
“A second deputy pulled the phone number related to the 911 call and obtained a name associated with the number,” said Sheriff Cole. “This deputy spotted a vehicle leaving the Scottville Wesco that came back to the cell phone number. A traffic stop was made, and while on the stop the deputy requested the Mason-Oceana 911 Center to return a call to the phone number that had placed the original call regarding the fight. Upon doing so, a cell phone rang next to the driver.”
