AMBER TOWNSHIP — A 36-year-old Manistee man wanted on a felony drug warrant was arrested early Friday morning, March 20, after fleeing from police in an SUV reaching speeds over 110 mph.
Douglas Alan-Robert Edens is charged with felonies of fourth-degree fleeing police and assaulting/resisting/obstructing police.
“On Friday, March 20 2026, at 1:16 a.m., Mason County deputies attempted a traffic stop on a 2023 White Nissan Rogue related to a 36-year-old Manistee man who was wanted on a felony drug warrant,” stated Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “The suspect vehicle fled the traffic stop northbound on US 31 from Johnson Road at speeds of over 110 mph.
“The suspect vehicle fled northbound on US 31 to Townline Road,” said Sheriff Cole. “The vehicle went east on Townline Road to Tuttle Road where the vehicle pulled over and the driver fled on foot.
“K-9s from the Ludington Police Department and the Little River Tribal Police tracked the suspect. A Michigan State Police trooper located the suspect approximately one mile away from the vehicle in a wooded area. He was then taken into custody.”
Edens was lodged in the Mason County Jail. He posted 10 percent of a $25,000 bond and has been released. He is scheduled to appear in Mason County’s 79th District Court for a preliminary exam April 8 at 1:30 p.m. He also faces felony charges of methamphetamine possession and possession of a narcotic or cocaine less than 25 grams. His offense date on the drug charges is Jan. 2, 2026, according to court records.
The Ludington Police Department, Manistee County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police troopers from the Hart and Cadillac posts, and the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians tribal police assisted deputies at the scene and during the pursuit.
