Lyle Griffith
Lyle Harry Griffith, 92, of Custer passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Lyle was born on October 17, 1933 in Tallman, the youngest of nine children born to Harry A. and Mary J. (Warner) Griffith. On August 16, 1952 he married Fayetta Dawn Cormany at Fountain Methodist Church and they celebrated 71 years by each other’s side until Fayetta preceded him in death on April 14, 2024.
Lyle was also preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, and his great-grandson Adam Rader.
Growing up on the family farm in Tallman, Lyle learned quickly the value of hard work and sacrifice. He worked construction most of his life, and in retirement he still worked hard around his home and enjoyed the simple things like tending to his garden and looking for ways to brighten Fayetta’s day.
Lyle will be missed by his son Charles Lyle Griffith of Custer; his daughter; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great, great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held for Lyle at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 23 at Bachelor Evangelical Covenant Church in Sheridan Township with Pastor Rick Harrell officiating. Burial will take place next to his beloved Fayetta later this spring at Fountain Cemetery. Friends may visit with his family on Monday from 12:00 noon until time of services at Bachelor Church. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
