VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The West Shore Wolves 10U hockey team wrapped up its 2025–2026 season on Sunday, February 22, with a second-place finish in the Adray Silver District Championship Tournament, held at West Shore Community Ice Arena on the campus of West Shore Community College. The Wolves fell in a hard-fought overtime battle to the Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association 10U B team in the championship game 3-2.
This marks the second runner-up finish for the Wolves 10U team in district tournament competition this season.
While the 10U team concluded its season, the West Shore Wolves 8U and 12U teams are advancing to their respective Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) state tournaments, scheduled for March 13–15 in the Detroit area.
In addition, Wolves players and coaches from all levels will come together to celebrate Hockey Week Across America and host a Try Hockey for Free event on Saturday, March 7, at West Shore Community Ice Arena. Check-in and free equipment fitting will take place from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by on-ice instruction from noon to 1 p.m.
“This is a great opportunity for younger kids thinking about trying ice hockey to put on gear and receive instruction from players and coaches, completely free of charge,” said Heather Tykoski, president of the West Shore Amateur Hockey Association.
The West Shore Amateur Hockey Association is also the beneficiary of this year’s Annual Lake Jump Fundraiser, which will take place on Saturday, April 18 at Stearns Park in Ludington.
Proceeds from the event help the association provide affordable hockey opportunities for youth across the association’s four-county region, ensuring that cost is not a barrier for children who want to participate in the sport.
