Linda Ayers
Linda Carol (Brown) Ayers, 86, went to her eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Linda was born on April 13, 1939, in Durand. Except for a few years spent living out of state, Michigan was always her home and held her heart. Over the years, she lived in Durand, Cadillac, Flint, Ludington, and most recently Hart, where she was a beloved resident of the Oceana County Medical Care Facility.
Linda was known for her joyous laugh, her generous and gentle spirit, and her fondness for all things pink, sparkly, and anything to do with cats. She loved deeply—her family, her friends, and above all, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom she remained unwaveringly devoted throughout her life.
She enjoyed being around people, yet also treasured quiet moments alone, reading and “puttering.” A driver from the age of 15 into her early 80s, Linda cherished the freedom of the open road. She especially loved peaceful country drives and took delight in being among the first to travel unplowed, snow-covered roads. Seeing the world blanketed in white, with snow and ice clinging to the trees, filled her with a profound sense of peace and stillness.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Etha (Warren) Brown; her brother, Ralph Brown Jr.; and her son, Richard Chipman.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth; her sister, Nathalie; her grandson, Daniel; her nieces, Cathy and Mary; her nephew, Michael; and other beloved cousins and extended family.
In keeping with her wishes, Linda did not want a service or memorial. She hoped instead to be remembered in quiet moments by those who loved her—without fuss or fanfare, but with warmth, gratitude, and peace.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
— Matthew 25:21 (KJV)
