Jen and Aaron Alley
By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief
SCOTTVILLE — Mission Graphics, the area’s only commercial printer, has moved from its long-time Ludington location to Scottville. Owners Aaron and Jen Alley purchased the business from Aaron’s parents, Tim and Debbie Alley, last February. Last fall they moved it to 113 S. Blaine St.
“As Jen and I looked at the business we were building and the opportunities that existed, we saw that Scottville was really on the forefront of being someplace that businesses, such as ours, could really thrive and support the community,” Aaron said. “The atmosphere here really leaned in to the promoting local resources and businesses and we felt that Mission Graphics would be able to help drive that forward.
“We wanted to show that people don’t have to go to larger cities to be able to get the products and services that they need for their businesses. The larger space has also allowed us to expand our offerings outside of traditional paper printing and into full color apparel and promotional products.”
Mission Graphics was originally known as Kwik Print/Worten Copy Center and was founded in Ludington by Wally and Karen Worten in 1977. The next year, Tim Alley began working there as a press operator. In 1984, Tim became a manager.
In 1985, the name was changed to Kwik Print Plus and an additional office opened in downtown Scottville. That office continued until 1994 when services were consolidated to the Ludington location across from Ludington High School on Washington Avenue.
Tim and Debbie Alley purchased the business in 1998 and Aaron began working as an outside sales representative in 1999, a position he held for five years. In 2013, Aaron came back to the family business. Since that time, Jen joined the business as well.
The third generation of Alleys are now part of the business as Aaron and Jen’s children now also work there.
“When we started back here, the shop was still a traditional offset print shop with a digital printer for walk in copying,” Aaron said. “As technology progressed, we were able to upgrade that copier into the larger digital presses and move some of the work from the traditional ink/plate pressed to the digital presses.
“Making the full transition to digital was a long and arduous road, but a necessary one. At the same time as we were working to transition from traditional offset to digital offset, my dad was transitioning from running the shop to becoming a full time pastor in Baldwin. It was difficult to navigate the terrain but Jen and I kept moving forward and refining the process and the shop. We purchased the shop in February of 2025 and began to immediately work towards defining the ultimate future of Mission Graphics.”
Aaron and Jen, residents of Branch Township, said they are excited to invest in Scottville and be involved in the town’s next phase.
“We see Scottville as being a city being rediscovered,” Aaron said. “It’s such a great small community that wants to support its local businesses. We know that bringing a commercial print shop here helps solidify the idea that we can be self-sufficient. Scottville is also a great location in that it is central to Mason County, and just as easy to serve and support Lake, Manistee, and Oceana counties directly. We see Mission Graphics becoming the local location to have one-stop shopping for all printing needs.”
Mission Graphics is a full service printer that goes beyond paper products. It offers color printing on branded promotional products such as pens, mugs, water bottles, etc. along with apparel such as shirts and hats. The business also offers yard signs and banners.
Mission Graphic’s mission statement is simple: “Your vision. Our Mission.”
“We care and we work to embody our mission statement with every customer,” Aaron said. “We want to help every customer have the best plan moving forward, and then provide quality products that match that plan.”
