WESTLAND — The Lakeshore Badgers defeated New Boston United 11-3 on Saturday, Jan. 3, providing them with a two-day winning streak (see related story).
The Badgers were able to build momentum from their win on Friday night and struck early with a goal on the first shift of the game. They built their lead to 5-0 as the first period came to a close.
The second period was more of the same with the Badgers scoring three more goals, with New Boston tallying 2 in the period. In the third period, the Badgers came out with intensity, scoring three more goals to New Boston’s lone goal in the period.
“I was happy with the team’s ability to start the game with intensity and purpose to get an early lead,” said Coach Brian Zatloukal. “We were able to limit New Boston’s scoring chances and held their scoring leader to a single assist in the game.”
Badger scorers:
- Anderson Riemer, Ludington High School junior: 2
- Owen Adair, Mason County Central sophomore: 1
- Ryan Higley, LHS junior: 2
- Cyric Jabrocki, MCC junior: 1
- Levi Young, MCC senior: 2
- Lukas Schade, MCC senior, 1
- Jacob Bielski, Manistee High School freshman, 1
- Adrian Lundberg, LHS sophomore, 1
“MCC sophomore Brockton Jabrocki earned the win in goal, stopping 16 of the 19 shots he faced,” Zatloukal said.
