
George “Larry” Martin
George Lawrence “Larry” Martin Jr., 76, of Ludington, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Born on April 22, 1949, in Ludington, he was the cherished son of the late Archie and Freada Ladere.
Larry graduated from Ludington High School and went on to become the respected owner and operator of Creative Canvas, a business well-known in the community for its meticulous attention to detail and outstanding customer service. Larry’s commitment to excellence was evident in every project he undertook, ensuring that each boat canvas was perfect.
Beyond his professional life, Larry was a man of many passions. He was a familiar and beloved figure at local schools and community parades, where he joyfully played the role of Santa Claus. He cherished the relationships he built throughout his life, reflecting his helpful and caring nature. Larry loved to travel, especially enjoying day trips with his wife, Tracy, whom he married on May 2, 2009. His love for his dogs knew no bounds, and they were a constant source of joy in his life.
Larry was a loving husband to Tracy (Underwood) Martin and a devoted father to Denise (Neil) Sanford, Donald Martin, and Kyle Martin. He was a proud stepfather to Jason and Eric Saya. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Nelson Sanford, Trenton (Kalana) Sanford, Ryder Saya, River Saya, Jaxon Saya, and his great-granddaughter, Audi Sanford. He is also survived by his siblings, Roger Vandling, Nanci Budreau, Gary Ladere, and Bob Ladere.
Larry was a hard worker, always doing his best to raise his children right and support them in their endeavors, often attending their sporting events, taking them fishing, and being an active presence in their lives.
While there are no services planned at this time, Larry will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington. Larry will be remembered for his generous spirit, his dedication to his family, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
