SCOTTVILLE — The annual Scottville Thanksgiving Dinner for Senior Citizens will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Mason County Central High School cafeteria.
Meals will be served from noon to 2 p.m., or until the food runs out. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. The traditional Thanksgiving dinner will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and squash, plus dessert.
The event is sponsored by the Scottville Area Senior Center and Mason County Central Schools. Food will be prepared by the MCC Food Service.
The event is free but a donation is requested to help cover expenses.
Bill Kerans, director of the senior center, emphasized that the meal is for senior citizens.
“We’re very glad to have an event exclusively for seniors to get together and enjoy a nice meal in a warm, friendly atmosphere,” Kerans said. “We’d love to be able to feed relatives of seniors and others in the community, but our food is limited and doesn’t stretch that far. We welcome seniors from throughout Mason County. We’re grateful to the school district for opening the cafeteria for the event.”
Seniors who are unable to attend for health or mobility reasons may call the Scottville Area Senior Center, 231-757-4705, to request that a meal be delivered after the event. Delivery requests will be honored as long as food is available after all those who attend have been served. There will be no walk-in meal pick ups “to go” available at the event.
“If attendance is similar to previous events, we expect to be able to fulfill delivery requests,” Kerans added.
Parking for the Thanksgiving Dinner for Seniors will be in the high school lot adjacent to State Street, with entrance via the main door to the high school.
