MCC second graders tour the vault at West Shore Bank’s Scottville branch.
This week about 2,000 Mason County students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade are depositing money into financial institutions for their college education. The students are participating in KickStart to Career’s (K2C) Deposit Days. Now in its seventh year, K2C is a financial savings program that is a collaborative effort between the Community Foundation for Mason County, Mason County schools, West Shore Educational Service District and local financial institutions. The program is designed to encourage learners and their families to save for their future education and career training.
Over the course of three days Deposit Days bring financial literacy to life for students across the county. West Shore Bank and Safe Harbor Credit Union are participating financial institutions and teach the children lessons in banking.
All participating students have the opportunity to make deposits into their K2C child savings accounts.
Participating schools are Ludington Area School District, Mason County Central School District, Mason County Eastern School District, Ludington Area Catholic School and Covenant Christian School. nt’s name, name of school, and date of birth.
