LUDINGTON — Lake Michigan Carferry has announced the S.S. Badger will not be sailing on Sunday, Oct. 5 due to forecasting gale force winds with waves from 7 to 13 feet.
“LMC understands the disappointment and inconvenience this decision causes and apologizes for the impact it has on travel plans,” a post on the company Facebook page stated. “While we are always committed to delivering an exceptional and comfortable cross-lake travel experience, lake conditions will make it impossible to do so in this instance.”
LMC will issue refunds to ticket holders. The vessel is expected to sail again on Monday, Oct. 6, leaving Ludington at 9 a.m. (EDT) and then departing from Manitowoc, Wis. at 2 p.m. (CDT).
The cancellation is only the second time the Badger has not sailed in the 2025 season. The season ends on Sunday, Oct. 12.
