Clown Band members Jac Russell, left, and Rich Harmon help out MCC band member Barrett Pasco

By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief

SCOTTVILLE — Several hundred people showed up for the Scottville Harvest Celebration event Saturday at the Western Michigan Old Engine Club Grounds at Riverside Park. The event included performances by the Mason County Central Marching Band and the Scottville Clown Band along with a variety of other activities including crafts and games.

Members of the MCC band had the opportunity to perform with the Clown Band.

Editor’s Note: As one of the planners of this event, I would like to thank everyone who participated, whether you came to watch or you helped. My fellow members of the Western Michigan Old Engine Club were amazing in much of the preparations. This is a group of people who always step up to the cause and go out of their way to make sure everything is done right. My fellow Clown Band members were equally great in welcoming the kids from the MCC band, including my daughter — who performed with the SCB for the first time. There was a lot of joy in the air and our town needed that this year. The Scottville Clown Band has performed every year in Scottville since 1947 (with the exception of the 2020 pandemic). Keeping these traditions alive are what keeps our town alive.
