Fins Beach Club to open after Labor Day

Fins Beach Club on Emerson Lake

BRANCH TOWNSHIP — Fins Beach Club, formerly Emerson Lake Inn, 7786 US-10, is expected to open on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The longstanding eastern Mason County establishment is under new ownership. In 2024, Dr. Andy Riemer purchased the restaurant located on the shores of Emerson Lake.

In 2021, Riemer rebuilt Stix Bar in Hamlin Township. He then purchased and renovated Chuck Wagon Pizza in Ludington and Doc’s on the River in Grant Township. He also purchased the former Michael’s Bar & Grill in Ludington and razed the building. Soon, the new building at the southeast corner of Ludington and Rath avenues will become AndyS.

The opening of Fins Beach Club restores the legacy of a time when eastern Mason County offered a variety of dining experiences.

“I envisioned a sandy beach front where people could enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset around a fire,” Riemer said. “It has been fun to watch the vision come to life. We even have a heart shaped rock on the beach and hope to have many celebrations there.”

Keeping with the nautical theme that is present at all of Riemer’s businesses, boats and fins are displayed throughout the property.

Emerson Lake first opened in 1957.

“Many, including myself, traveled from Ludington to Branch for prom dinner,” Riemer said. “I had scallops which were a special occasion for me.”

Ryan Wierenga, executive chef of Riemer Hospitality has created a menu that blends fine dining and bar food creations.

“We will offer prime rib, burgers, and seafood options suited to most any budget,” Wierenga said. “Our focus is always on providing great food and service to our guests.”

Fins Beach Club will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and a private event on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The bar and restaurant will open to the public on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 4 p.m.

Hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 4 to 9 p.m. Beginning in spring 2026, the restaurant will expand to seven days per week, including lunch throughout the summer season.
