Man arrested on multiple charges and warrants
BRANCH TOWNSHIP — A 27-year-old Oxford, Mich. man was arrested by a Mason County sheriff’s deputy on multiple charges and warrants following a traffic stop on Maple Road north of US 10 Saturday, Aug. 23, around 1 a.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
“It is alleged that once the driver was stopped and asked if he knew why he was being pulled over, he replied, ‘I could care less,’” said Sheriff Cole.
The man was pulled over for a speeding violation for allegedly driving over 110 mph in a 55 mph zone. “The suspect provided the deputy with a false name and was defiant and argumentative with the deputy,” said Sheriff Cole. “Once his Identity was discovered, it was learned he had a suspended Michigan ops and had two statewide warrants for his arrest out of Sandusky, Michigan and Warren, Michigan for reckless driving and drunk and disorderly conduct. It was also discovered he was wanted out of LaPorte, Ind. on a five-count felony warrant for felony assault on an officer with injury.”
The man was arrested on the warrants, along with new charges of driving while license suspended, failure to identify, and resisting and obstructing a police officer. He remains lodged in the Mason County Jail.
