BRANCH TOWNSHIP — A 32-year-old Scottville man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies on charges of felony domestic assault by strangulation, assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and damage to police property Saturday, Aug. 9, shortly after 12:30 p.m. on US 10 near Walhalla Road, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
The man was arrested following a 911 call reporting an assault by strangulation in the City of Scottville, said the sheriff. “The victim, a female girlfriend to the suspect, was able to get away and leave in a separate vehicle. The suspect chased the victim eastbound on US 10. A deputy, on patrol in Walhalla, spotted the situation and stopped the suspect vehicle. During the arrest, the suspect fought with two deputies and repeatedly kicked the inside of the patrol car.”
