LUDINGTON — A request to approve a sinking fund for Mason County Eastern passed by 52 percent during Tuesday’s election, Aug. 5. Voters in the school district approved the request, 412-368, which will generate up to .75 mill (results do not include Lake and Manistee counties results). The millage rate is expected to generate $198,160 per year for four years.
Ballot language stated the sinking fund was inclusive, to create a sinking fund for the acquisition of student transportation vehicles; for the acquisition of parts, supplies, and equipment used for the maintenance of student transportation vehicles; for the acquisition of eligible trucks and vans used to carry parts, equipment, and personnel for or in the maintenance of school buildings; for the acquisition of parts, supplies, and equipment used to maintain such trucks and vans; and for all other purposes authorized by law;
