LUDINGTON — The Community Foundation for Mason County has published its fall 2026 Community Wish Lists, featuring 113 wishes totaling more than $193,000 in needs for local nonprofit organizations.
The foundation will celebrate its second annual Wish List Wednesday on Nov. 11, encouraging individuals, businesses and organizations to help fulfill the wishes of Mason County nonprofits.
Established in 2025, Wish List Wednesday is observed annually on the second Wednesday of November. The initiative highlights the Community Wish Lists and encourages charitable giving during the year-end holiday season.
This year’s wishes represent a variety of needs, including arts, education, youth development, the environment, community development, and health and human services. Requests range from everyday supplies and equipment to larger projects that allow nonprofits to expand their services.
The Community Wish Lists have connected donors with local needs for nearly a decade. In 2025, donors granted 44 wishes, providing nearly $48,000 in funding for local nonprofits.
One example of the program’s impact is Sandcastles Children’s Museum, which previously received funding through the Community Wish Lists to purchase an outdoor traveling exhibit. Since then, the exhibit has provided hands-on learning and play opportunities for families at community events throughout Mason County, including Friday Night Live, the Love Ludington Street Party, Scottville Fall Celebration, Family afFAIR and Cultural Corners.
The wish lists are organized by funding level — $500 or less, $501 to $1,500, and more than $1,500 — as well as by areas of interest, allowing donors to identify opportunities that align with their charitable giving goals.
The complete lists are available at https://mason-foundation.org/community-wishlist/.
Although Wish List Wednesday is Nov. 11, wishes can be granted throughout the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. The foundation also encourages donors to consider the lists for Giving Tuesday on Dec. 1 and for year-end charitable contributions.
Individuals with donor-advised funds through the Community Foundation may recommend grants from their funds to fulfill wishes. Those without funds may contribute directly to the nonprofit organizations.
Donors are encouraged to notify both the nonprofit organization and the Community Foundation when granting a wish so the request can be marked as funded.
“The Community Foundation works to build a vibrant community with great opportunities for all; strong nonprofits and a culture of giving are key drivers toward that vision,” said Andrea Large, executive director of the Community Foundation for Mason County. “The Community Wish Lists provide opportunities to help local organizations turn possibilities into meaningful impact, strengthening the people, programs, and communities that make Mason County such a wonderful place to call home.”
The Community Foundation for Mason County was established in 1988 to improve the quality of life for county residents. It is a publicly supported community endowment and an affiliate of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. The foundation receives and manages charitable contributions from individuals and organizations committed to Mason County’s future.
