SCOTTVILLE — FiveCAP Inc., in partnership with Synergy Media Inc., has launched the 54th annual Toys for Tots/Gifts for Teens program in Mason County to help ensure local children and teenagers receive Christmas gifts this holiday season.
The program, coordinated by FiveCAP and Synergy Media, which operates WKLA-FM Hits 96 and WKZC-FM 94.9 The Big Dog, is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children from birth through age 18.
Collection barrels are being placed at businesses and offices throughout the area. A current list of collection locations is available at www.fivecap.org. Donations may also be dropped off at the Mason County FiveCAP office, 302 N. Main St., Scottville.
Donated toys and gifts will be distributed to parents Dec. 16 and 17 at Greystone Event Center in Ludington.
“We welcome all contributions, from stocking stuffers to larger gifts and family games,” said FiveCAP Executive Director Mary L. Trucks.
The annual program is designed to assist families who may be struggling financially and unable to purchase Christmas gifts for their children. With the costs of housing, utilities, groceries and other necessities, the holidays can create additional financial challenges for families.
FiveCAP staff and volunteers sort donated items by age group and gender to help parents select appropriate gifts. During the distribution, parents are assisted by personal shoppers as they choose gifts for their children.
In addition to toys and other gifts, the organization is accepting monetary donations. The funds are used to purchase additional items for age groups where donations may be limited, helping ensure parents have a variety of gifts from which to choose.
All donations to the program are used to provide gifts for children and teenagers in Mason County.
Monetary donations may be made through a QR code available at www.fivecap.org or mailed to FiveCAP Inc. — Toys for Tots/Gifts for Teens, P.O. Box 37, Scottville, MI 49454.
Those interested in donating, volunteering or learning more about the program may contact the Mason County FiveCAP office at 231-757-3785.
Toys for Tots/Gifts for Teens is a community program coordinated by FiveCAP and Synergy Media and is not affiliated with other holiday gift collection programs.
