Robert Schultz

Robert Lewis Schultz, 79, of Pentwater, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Born in Hart on September 22, 1947, Robert, lovingly known as Bob, was the son of the late William and Maybelle (Fulker) Schultz. Born with an innate sense of humor and a knack for sarcasm, Bob’s personality was as spirited as it was endearing.

He graduated from Mason County Central High School with the class of 1965.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, stationed at Khe Sanh and the “Rockpile” from 1966 to 1968. His brave service was recognized with the Purple Heart, a testament to his courage and sacrifice in the line of duty.

Following his military service, Bob embarked on a significant career with Dow Chemical Company, where he worked for 32 years, retiring as a supervisor in 2000. Post-retirement, he continued to contribute to the community by working for the U.S. Forest Service, where his love for the outdoors could flourish.

Bob’s personal time was often spent indulging in his passions. An avid hunter, he cherished the tranquility and challenge of the sport. He was also a fervent supporter of Detroit sports, rarely missing games of the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. His love for sports was only paralleled by his enjoyment of social gatherings at local spots like Murphy’s Tavern and the Clubhouse, where he was a familiar face and beloved friend.

Bob will be missed by hxis sons Daniel Schultz and Richard Amstutz; daughter Angela (Jody) Rothman; grandchildren Devon Rothman, Kylee Rothman, and Brandon Amstutz; great granddaughter Layla Amstutz sister Shirley Hanson; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and his good friends.

In addition to his parents William and Maybelle, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings William Schultz, Laura Schultz, Audrey Cornett, Alice Rederstorf, and Richard Schultz.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at Murphy’s Tavern in Pentwater on Saturday October 24, 2026, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 76, Veterans of Foreign Wars – Eldon L. Chadwick Post 6017, or to The Hero’s Operation.
