FREE SOIL TOWNSHIP — The annual Camp Sauble Cages of Carnage haunted attraction continues this weekend, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17, and the following weekend, Oct. 23 and 24.

The event, held at the former Camp Sauble prison facility, 4058 E. Free Soil Road, is a fundraiser for the Free Soil/Meade Fire Department, which is part of the Mason County Rural Fire Authority. Proceeds help the department purchase firefighting and emergency response equipment beyond what is funded through property taxes.

Cages of Carnage features two haunted attractions, Prison Break and Night Terrors, offering visitors different experiences throughout the former prison facility and surrounding grounds.

The event has become an annual Halloween tradition in northern Mason County, drawing visitors looking for a unique haunted experience inside a former correctional facility.

Each year, volunteers work to develop new scares and experiences throughout the property. The attractions incorporate the prison’s cells, corridors and outdoor areas to create a frightening environment for visitors.

The event relies heavily on volunteers, including actors and people working behind the scenes. Their efforts help raise funds for equipment used by the fire department to protect lives and property.

Both attractions will be open from 7:30 to 11 p.m. each night. Admission is $15 per person, per attraction. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

The event will be held rain or shine.

Camp Sauble is located on Free Soil Road, just east of Reek Road.
