
Winnie Barnett
Winnie Anna Barnett, 93, of Amber Township, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Winnie was born on January 22, 1933, at home, the daughter of the late Andrew and Winnie (Lincoln) Dains. She was a 1952 graduate of Ludington High School. On May 2, 1953, she married Wayne Barnett.
Winnie was an avid bowler. She was part of many teams and leagues, traveling throughout Mason County. She did this for 40 years. Winnie was especially fond of her regular trips to Manistee and Scottville, where she thoroughly enjoyed her root beer floats and peachy-flavored gummy rings.
She was most known for her love of family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Winnie is survived by her children, Denise and Tom Taylor, Marilyn and Vern Bowman, Ethan Sr. and Molly Barnett; grandchildren, Eveline (Ben Barnett) Taylor, Ross (Lindsay Jolly) Taylor, Caleb Bowman, Luke (Nicole) Bowman, Carla (Terrence) Massey, and Ethan Barnett Jr.; great grandchildren, Brittaney (Drew) Marshall, Christian (Marisela Lugo-Gonzalez) Steiger, Jordan (Brianna Cloyd) Steiger, Austin Parker Bowman, Aurora Bowman, Hunter (Ayla) Bowman, Hailey Bowman, and Asher Bowman; seven great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jacqueline Cleveland, and Patricia Archambeau; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Winnie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Gilbert Dains, and Edward Dains; sisters, Eleanor Morse, Violet Ethel McSharnock, Rose Jacobsen, Flossie Miller, and Kathleen Burns; and great granddaughter, Tiffaney Steiger.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home.
A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington, with Father Jacob Zemaitis presiding, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mason County Historical Society, PO Box 569, Ludington, MI 49431, or to the family.
