Library, hospital to offer water-bath canning demonstration

LUDINGTON — Mason County District Library and Corewell Health will host a water-bath canning demonstration Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. at Lakeshore Resource Network, 920 E. Tinkham Ave.

Leona Ashley, community health educator with Corewell Health, will demonstrate how to preserve tomatoes using the water-bath canning method. Participants will learn about the science behind water-bath canning, the equipment needed and the steps involved in the process.

Registration is required. Participants may register through the library’s event calendar at MCDLibrary.org or by calling Ashley at 231-845-5455.

The Mason County District Library’s Library of Things collection also includes a water-bath canning pot available for checkout. Other items in the collection may be viewed online or at the library’s Ludington and Scottville branches.

All Mason County District Library programs are free.
