Nancy Stever

Nancy L. (Thompson) Stever, 81, of Ludington, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026.

Born on July 26, 1945, in Ludington, Nancy was the daughter of the late Freeman and Arlene (Huizenga) Thompson. She graduated from high school in 1963. Nancy lived a life marked by joy, friendship, and a deep love for the outdoors.

She married James B. Stever on December 31, 1994, and they had shared 21 years together before James’ passing on May 19, 2016.

She worked at Hamlin Grocery for numerous years and at LDI for 11 years. Nancy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 43 years.

Nancy was known for her fun-loving nature and her ability to enjoy life to the fullest. She cherished the company of friends and family, always ensuring those around her felt loved and valued. Her hobbies included fishing, picking mushrooms, and camping, activities that brought her immense peace and happiness.

She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly: sons Randy Hansen and Scott Hansen; grandchildren Marissa Hansen and Dylan Hansen; two great-grandchildren; her little dog Shadow; her brother Larry Thompson and his wife Jolene; niece Lisa Thompson; nephew Kevin Thompson; aunt Sharon Huizenga; and numerous cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her son Ricky Hansen; twin girl granddaughters; her aunts, uncles, and her grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Nancy’s memory.
