Mary Bergh

Mary Marie (Smith) Bergh, 88, of Ludington, formerly of Fowlerville, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026.

Mary was born on April 6, 1938, in Fowlerville, the daughter of the late Hillyard and Lucille (Roberts) Smith. On Sept. 12, 1987, she married John Victor Bergh, and they celebrated 34 years together until his passing. She loved our Lord Jesus, and spreading his message of salvation and love, more than anything else in this world. She also loved music. Mary Learned to play the piano as a young child and played six string, 12 string, and bass guitar. She had an incredible ear for music. She could not read music but all she needed was to hear a song once and then she could play it.

Along with spending time with family and friends, Mary and John spent over 30 years in ministry. They could be found spreading the Gospel in nursing homes, care homes, and 30 years of weekly visits to Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee. Mary was always willing to help anyone in need.

Lastly, she cherished her daily morning trip to Old Hamlin Restaurant to have breakfast with her very close group of friends and staff. She will be dearly missed by all the countless lives she’s touched over the years.

Mary is survived by her children Dawn (Steve) Lipps, Alma (Joe) Martz, Steve Crawford, Carl (Cindy) Crawford, Jeff Crawford, Larry (Kellie) King, Gwen King, and stepson Roger (Tina) Bergh; 19 grandkids; and 33 great grandkids.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Bergh; son, Charles Crawford; and stepdaughter, Carla (Swan) Bergh.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at 11am at Grace Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10am at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
