LUDINGTON — The Community Foundation for Mason County and its Youth Advisory Council are accepting applications for two fall grant programs, including $100,000 available through the foundation’s competitive grant cycle.
The Community Foundation’s fall grants will support projects that align with its strategic priorities of education, workforce supports, and recreation and quality of life.
Additional funding is available through the Boon House Legacy Fund and Good Neighbor Fund. The Boon House Legacy Fund supports projects addressing substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery. The Good Neighbor Fund supports projects that improve quality of life in Summit and Riverton townships.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, churches, schools, agencies and governmental units serving the greater Mason County area.
The deadline to apply is Thursday, Sept. 24.
“Our fall grant round is an opportunity to support the work that moves Mason County forward,” said Andrea Large, executive director of the Community Foundation for Mason County. “We are looking for projects that expand educational opportunities, strengthen our community, and contribute to a thriving local economy.”
The Youth Advisory Council Teacher Mini-Grant program is also accepting applications.
Public and private school teachers and counselors in Mason County may apply for grants of up to $500 for specific projects or programs designed to enhance education and student engagement.
The deadline for Teacher Mini-Grant applications is Friday, Sept. 25.
The Community Foundation accepts competitive grant applications twice each year, in the fall and spring. The Youth Advisory Council accepts teacher mini-grant applications in the fall and competitive grant applications each spring.
Funding for the Community Foundation’s grantmaking program comes from numerous community and field-of-interest funds established by individuals, families, organizations and businesses.
The Community Foundation for Mason County was established in 1988 and is an affiliate of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. It receives and manages charitable contributions intended to support programs and projects in Mason County.
The Youth Advisory Council includes more than 20 student grantmakers representing Mason County-area high schools. Council members review youth-related needs and make grant recommendations to the Community Foundation’s board of directors.
