
Mike Karboske
Michael Joseph Karboske, 65, of Mt. Morris, passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026.
Mike graduated from Mt. Morris Elizabeth Ann Johnson High School in 1980. He graduated from University of Michigan, Flint in 1989 with a master’s degree in music.
Mike started his career as a band director for many years. He taught at Fenton schools, Centerville schools, and retired from Plymouth-Canton schools after 25 years of service. Under Mike’s direction, his band received numerous number one ratings from MSBOA at state competitions.
During retirement, Mike had many interests but his passion was refurbishing trucks and participating in car and truck shows, where he won many awards for his efforts. Mike also enjoyed playing trumpet with his father in polka bands for many years, attending polka festivals, and competing in shuffleboard leagues.
Mike was a life member of the Scottville Clown Band, participating in numerous parades as the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz.
Surviving family members include his father, Walter Karboske of Ludington; sisters Cathy Paddock (Jeff) of Austin, Texas; Julie Miller (Ron) of Roscoe, Ill.; Janice Flynn of Owosso; Christine Gifford of Florida; nieces Danielle Doherty of Austin, Texas; Tawnie Reece of Illinois; Paige Gifford of Florida; and numerous cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with Rev. Jacob Zemaitis presiding. Visitation begin at 10 a.m. at church. Michael will be laid to rest at Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Simon Catholic Church.
