West Shore Family Support to celebrate 30 years Sept. 9

LUDINGTON — West Shore Family Support will celebrate 30 years of serving women, children and families in Mason and Oceana counties with an open house Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The 30th Anniversary Celebration will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at West Shore Family Support, 603 E. Tinkham Ave. The public is invited to tour the center, learn about its programs and history, and enjoy refreshments and giveaways.

The theme, “30 Years Growing Strong,” reflects the organization’s growth alongside the families and communities it serves while remaining rooted in its Christ-centered, life-affirming mission.

West Shore Family Support began with a commitment to help women facing unexpected pregnancies and affirm the value of every human life. Its services have expanded over the past three decades to include pregnancy and parenting support, education, material assistance, mentoring and other forms of care.

“Being life-affirming has always meant more to us than simply saying that every life has value. It means putting that belief into action,” Executive Director Lindsay Murphy said. “It means walking alongside a woman facing an unexpected pregnancy, supporting parents as they raise their children, meeting practical needs, celebrating victories, praying together and reminding families that they do not have to walk through difficult seasons alone.”

The anniversary celebration is open to community members, supporters, volunteers, donors and past and present clients.

“This anniversary is about so much more than an organization reaching 30 years,” Murphy said. “It is about the people who had the faith and vision to begin this ministry, the volunteers who have given countless hours, the churches and donors who have faithfully supported the work, and a community that has continued to come alongside us. Most of all, it is about the families who have trusted us and allowed us the privilege of being part of their stories.”

Murphy said the organization remains committed to strengthening families through practical assistance, education and compassionate care.

“Thirty years later, our calling remains the same,” she said. “We want to be a place where people are loved, life is valued, families are strengthened and hope is found. We are deeply grateful for everyone who has been part of these first 30 years, and we look forward to continuing to serve this community for generations to come.”
