PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Mason County sheriff’s deputies arrested two men on drunk driving charges who were reportedly found passed behind the wheel of their vehicles Tuesday, Aug. 4, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
The first arrest occurred just before 4 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot on US 10. A 43-year-old Fort Collins, Colo. man was arrested after deputies received a report of a person passed out behind the wheel of their vehicle.
He was charged with operating with a high blood alcohol content or “super drunk driving” and lodged in the Mason County Jail.
The second arrest occurred just before 10 p.m. in the area of Orchard Avenue and Terri Court. A 69-year-old Irons man was arrested for third-offense drunk driving after deputies responded to “a reported suspicious vehicle call where a man was reportedly passed out behind the wheel,” said Sherif Cole. He was also lodged in the Mason County Jail.

- 4:19 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 west of Brye Road, Amber Township.
- 10:52 a.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 and Brye Road, Amber Township.
- 5:04 p.m., one-vehicle crash, no injury, Pere Marquette Highway and Conrad Road, Pere Marquette Township.
- 10 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Hansen Road west of White Birch Road, Amber Township.
Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026:
- 10:27 p.m., a 45-year-old Ludington man was arrested on an outstanding Mason County criminal bench warrant for failure to appear, northbound US 31 north of the Ludington rest area, Pere Marquette Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 10:43 p.m., a 44-year-old Ludington man was arrested on two outstanding Mason County contempt of court warrants, 5700 block of Limouze Road, Pere Marquette Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
