Leslie Point-Sanders
It is with unimaginable sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Leslie Point-Sanders, the best mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
On Monday, July 13, Leslie’s brain aneurysm burst, just 17 hours before her life-saving surgery. She fought fiercely with incredible strength until taking her final breath at the stroke of midnight, marking the beginning of Thursday, July 16, in the arms of her daughter and surrounded by the love of her family.
Leslie was born on Jan. 24, 1963, in California, to her father, Lynwood Rowe Point of Ludington, and her mother, Shirley Evelyn Point (McClellan) of Custer.
Leslie was the heart of her family, a beacon of light whose nurturing spirit knew no boundaries. She had a remarkable way of opening her heart, offering comfort, guidance, laughter, and unconditional love to anyone who needed it. She was cheerful, smart, witty, a tinkerer of things, generous, kind-hearted, patient, and giving.
As a child, Leslie spent many cherished moments on her grandparents’ dairy farm, where she created memories that would stay with her throughout her life. The farm was a special place where Leslie enjoyed spending time with her cousins and her grandparents, Paul “Leslie” McClellan and Gladys Viola McClellan (Thomas).
Leslie also cherished the family camping trips at Scottville Riverside Park, where once a year all of the Points would gather together for camping. These annual gatherings were filled with memories that Leslie carried with her throughout her life.
Leslie’s most cherished time on this earth was the time she spent being a mother. She was a fierce mother who lovingly filled that role for anyone in need, opening her heart to those who needed love, guidance, comfort, and a place to belong.
Leslie is survived by her three children Jessica Sanders, Joshua Sanders, and Sarah Sanders; her three beloved grandchildren Boris, Jaciess, and Indigo all of Mason County; her bonus granddaughter Maddison of Arkansas.
Leslie was the youngest of four daughters and was lovingly known as the baby of the family.
She is also survived by her three sisters Nancy Point of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Karen Boyd of Racine, Wisconsin, and Diane Point of Scottville; her former husband Thomas Sanders of Ozark, Ark.; her bonus daughter Amanda Sanders of Mulberry, Arkansas; her great-maternal aunt Micki Martincheck of Custer; three nieces; one nephew; four great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
Leslie was preceded in death by her parents, Lynwood Rowe Point and Shirley Evelyn Point (McClellan); her maternal grandparents Paul “Leslie” McClellan and Gladys Viola McClellan (Thomas); and her paternal grandparents Jessie Walter Point and Cecil Marie Point (Dearmond).
Leslie was cherished, loved, and will be forever remembered as a gift to all that knew her.
