PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Twisted Sticks R/C Club will host its annual Public Expo on Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the club’s flying field, 5950 W. Chauvez Road, west of the Mason County Campground. Admission is free, and the family-friendly event is open to the public. In the event of rain, the expo will be held Sunday, July 19.
The expo will feature live flight demonstrations by club members flying a variety of radio-controlled aircraft, along with flight simulators that allow visitors to experience model aviation firsthand. Additional activities include candy drops, raffles, free hot dogs and opportunities to learn more about the hobby from experienced pilots.
The Twisted Sticks R/C Club is a Ludington-area organization dedicated to the sport of radio-controlled model aviation. Chartered through the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the club welcomes pilots who fly electric-, gas- and nitro-powered aircraft and promotes safe recreational flying at its Hull Field facility in Pere Marquette Township. Club members also offer instruction to those interested in learning to fly.
The Public Expo is designed to introduce the community to radio-controlled aviation while providing a fun afternoon for families. Whether visitors are longtime aviation enthusiasts or simply curious about the hobby, the event offers an opportunity to watch skilled pilots in action, ask questions and explore the world of model aircraft.
