Betty M. Gambicki, 98, of Ludington, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Betty was born on July 2, 1927, in Petoskey, to the late Bernard and Evelyn Blair. Her family moved to Saginaw where she graduated from Saginaw High. In 1948, she married Chester Cymbal and they started a family. In the early 1960s, they moved to Ludington and became the owners of Cymbals Tavern, now known as Bud’s Tap Room. In later years, Betty worked at Star Watch Case, Wrens Roost, and Gibbs Country House. She also ran a ceramic business out of her home for many years.

Betty was an avid fisherman and hunter. At age 13, she got her first buck. Over the years, she earned many trophies for bowling.

Betty is survived by her children, Carol Wheeler of Grand Rapids, James Cymbal of Ludington, Patricia (Rick) Lower of Ionia, and Dennis Fortier of Largo, Florida; 12 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Skip Cymbal of Ludington.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at the American Legion Post 76, in Ludington, from noon to 4 p.m.
