WALHALLA — The Mason County Land Bank Authority will host an open house Saturday, July 11, at two newly constructed homes in Walhalla, providing prospective homebuyers, local officials and community members an opportunity to tour the properties and learn more about the authority’s role in expanding affordable housing opportunities in Mason County.
The open house will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 41 and 43 S. Stephen Ave. Light refreshments will be served.
The Mason County Land Bank Authority was established to return vacant, abandoned and tax-reverted properties to productive use. In recent years, the authority has become increasingly active in addressing blight while also working to increase the availability of affordable housing. The authority has overseen several high-profile demolition projects, including the former Scottville High School and, more recently, the former Free Soil School building, clearing the way for future redevelopment efforts.
The newly constructed homes in Walhalla represent another step in the land bank’s expanding housing mission. During the open house, officials will discuss how the authority partners with local governments and community organizations to strengthen neighborhoods by eliminating blight and creating homeownership opportunities.
Individuals interested in purchasing either home are encouraged to attend. Purchase applications will be available on site, and information about purchaser income eligibility will be provided with the home details.
The event is open to prospective buyers as well as local government officials, housing advocates and residents interested in learning more about how the Mason County Land Bank Authority works to improve communities throughout the county.
