Sharon Ames

Sharon Rose (Burgess) Ames, 89, of Ludington, formerly of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Sharon was born on May 22, 1937, in Lansing, to the late Philo and Marjorie (Lyons) Burgess. She attended Eastern High School and graduated in 1955. On October 6, 1962, she married Daniel Ames but later went on to divorce in 2006. For over 20 years, she was a supervisor helping disabled adults, retiring in 1992.

She had a rich life filled with diverse interests that reflected her vibrant personality. Sharon was an avid lover of her cat and house plants, finding joy and peace in the care she provided them with. Her daily walks and social gatherings were a source of happiness and connection.

A notable aspect of Sharon’s life was her not-so-secret passion for Harlequin romance novels, a hobby that showcased her romantic spirit and belief in the power of love. Her courage and pioneering spirit were evident in her ownership of a vacation cottage in the 1950s, a bold move for a single woman in her twenties. This act, among others, established her as a quiet yet impactful feminist role model though she would never say that.

Sharon’s legacy is marked by her inner strength and the subtle yet significant impact she had on those around her. She will be remembered not only for the love she shared but also for the quiet courage with which she lived her life.

Sharon is survived by her sons, Daniel Ezra (Angie) Ames II, and David Edward Ames; daughter, Darcy Elaine (TJ) Rowe; grandchildren, Christine, Daniel III, Henry; Laci (Sam); and nieces, Michelle, Teresa, and Lisa.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Philo and Marjorie Burgess; former husband, Daniel Ames; daughter, Dawn Ames; siblings, Margie Pollock, Sandy Burgess, and Pete Burgess; and nephew, Mike Pollock.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Holiday Inn & Suites Ludington, from 2pm-4pm.

Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Funeral Home and Cremation Services, www.GraceCremations.com.
