LUDINGTON — A 36-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday, June 9, in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court to 51 months to 30 years in prison for a conviction of delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine.

Michael Mason Durham pleaded no contest to the charge, April 14.

“This happened in the alley near the old Foster School,” said Mason County Prosecuting Attorney Beth Hand of the Nov. 29, 2025 incident. “An individual working with the Ludington Police Department contacted the defendant whom the informant had purchased drugs from in the past. The defendant arrived at the prearranged location and was met by the police. The sale was to be for $50 worth of methamphetamine. The defendant was wearing a cast and had hid the drugs in his cast. Once the bag was seen protruding from the defendant’s cast, it was recovered. The defendant also tried to hide methamphetamine while in the back of the patrol car.”

Judge Susan K. Sniegowski gave Durham credit for 146 days served in jail and ordered $198 in fines and costs, according to court records.

In a second criminal file, he was found guilty of probation violation and received a concurrent term of two to five years in prison with credit for 174 days served in jail. His probation stems from a Dec. 20, 2024 conviction of third-offense domestic violence and attempted assaulting/resisting/obstructing police.

“Drug dealers need to be aware of the serious consequences of their actions,” said Prosecutor Hand. “Severe sanctions are warranted. The methamphetamine epidemic can only be lessened if the sources of supply are stopped. The message continues…. if you sell drugs in Mason County, you will be held accountable.”
