LUDINGTON — A fundraising event aboard the SS Badger and at The Lakehouse will support the Lakeshore Children’s Advocacy Center.
“The Badger Experience” is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, June 4. The event is presented by Friends of Ludington Police, Safe Harbor Credit Union and Safety Decals, with all proceeds benefiting the Lakeshore Children’s Advocacy Center.
Activities begin at 6 p.m. at The Lakehouse, 704 Maritime Drive, and include catered hors d’oeuvres along with an opportunity to watch and listen as the carferry enters Ludington harbor.
From 8 to 10 p.m., guests will board the ship for self-guided tours, snacks, live music and “Badger Bingo.”
VIP ticket holders will also receive a 40-minute guided tour of the ship’s engine room and pilot house.
The Lakeshore Children’s Advocacy Center serves Mason, Manistee and Oceana counties, providing a coordinated response for children who have experienced abuse. The organization brings together law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, medical professionals and mental health providers in a child-friendly environment designed to reduce trauma for children and families.
The center offers forensic interviews, family advocacy, counseling referrals and prevention education programs at no cost to families. Executive Director Megan McCarthy said in a recent interview that the organization’s mission is to help children “find safety, justice and healing.”
General admission tickets are $50, with 140 available. VIP tickets are $75, with 60 available. A total of 200 tickets will be sold through Eventbrite.
