LUDINGTON — Ludington took control early and rolled to a 5-0 win over Fremont in a West Michigan Conference girls soccer match Friday at Oriole Field.
The Orioles improved to 10-5-1 overall and remained unbeaten in conference play at 8-0. Fremont fell to 8-5-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the conference standings.
Ludington scored four goals in the opening half to build a commanding lead.
Hestyn Stowe led the Orioles with three goals and one assist. Grace Forfinski added a goal and an assist, while Claire Kieth contributed one goal and one assist. Eloise Kwietniewski also recorded an assist.
Cambria Britton earned the shutout in goal for Ludington, making three saves on three shots by Fremont.
Ludington coach Kris Anderson credited the Orioles’ defensive unit for limiting Fremont’s offensive opportunities. Norah Kiessel, Alex Bousson, Kaia Jones, Leeahna Veeneman and Delaney Jeruzal anchored a defense that allowed only three shots on goal.
The Orioles finished with 12 shots on goal.
Ludington returns to action Monday when it hosts Hart at Oriole Field. Hart enters the matchup just behind the Orioles in the conference standings with one league loss.
