FREMONT — Lane Sterley recorded the first hole-in-one of his career Monday as the Mason County Central boys golf team competed in the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division fourth jamboree at Northwood Golf Course, hosted by Hesperia.
Despite cool and breezy conditions, scores improved across the board during the event.
North Muskegon won the jamboree with a team score of 161. Luke Jones of North Muskegon and Titan Carter of Shelby shared medalist honors after each carded a 36.
Sterley highlighted the day for Mason County Central by acing the 17th hole using a 9-iron. He finished with his best round of the season, shooting a 37.
Other scorers for MCC included Grayden Etchison with a 49, Rocco Krysiak with a 53 and Bode Etchison with a 54. Also competing for the Spartans were Cole VanderHaag, 54, and Gavin Griswold, 66.
“We were excited to see Lane get his first hole-in-one and post his best score of the season,” said MCC Coach Tim Genson.
The Spartans return to action Wednesday, May 13, at the Oakridge Invitational at Chase Hammond Golf Course in Muskegon Township.
