FREMONT — Ludington’s junior varsity softball team fell to Fremont in a doubleheader on Tuesday, falling 16-3 and 16-1.
Rayne Holtrust started on the mound and took the loss in Game 1. Mayra Martinez started and took the loss in Game 2.
Offensively for the Orioles in the opener, Chloe Genter went 1-for-2, Rylie Arekelet was 1-for-2 with a double, Martinez finished 1-for-2 with a double, and Leesa Shereda went 1-for-2.
In Game 2, Martinez was 1-for-1 with a walk. Sarah Benz, Bre Forbes and Arekelet each drew walks.
Despite the scores, Ludington coach Maggie Bates said the team showed progress.
“We saw a lot of improvement with the girls today,” Bates said. “A lot of the things we worked on in practice this last week really showed in their play. You can see the improvements they’ve made over the season both individually and as a team.”
