Obituary: Robert Lee Gwilliams, 92, of Walhalla

Robert Lee Gwilliams, 92, of Walhalla, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Corewell Health Big Rapids Hospital. He was born March 30, 1934, in Otsego, the son of Earl and Elizabeth (Gaunt) Gwilliams.

Robert was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. Afterwards he worked for several years as a logger and then spent most of the rest of his life working as dairy farmer. In his spare time Robert loved fishing, hunting and playing chess. He became a devout Christian and was proud to have been saved.

Robert is survived by: his children, Vickie Crabtree, Deborah Davis, Tim (Connie) Gwilliams and David (Sandra) Gwilliams; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Mayrold Ann Gwilliams in 2014; his sisters, Nancy and Elizabeth; his brothers, Charles, Russell, Edward and Donald; and his sons-in-law, Randy Crabtree and Brad Davis.

Interment will be at Tallman Cemetery and a celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date.
