MONTAGUE — Mason County Central brought its A-game in a doubleheader against the Wildcats on Thursday, winning both games by a combined 35 runs.
In Game 1, Brooke Hawke took the mound for the Spartans, pitching three innings to earn the win. Hawke struck out three, walked five and allowed no earned runs. Brielle Cerka hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the third inning, helping push MCC to the win.
Game 1 offensive leaders were:
- Avery Miller had one hit, scored four runs and drove in two.
- Anya Shatova had two hits, scored three runs and drove in two.
- Lexi Lemire had one hit, scored three runs and drove in five.
- Brooke Hawke had two hits, scored two runs and drove in three.
- Syren Cohoon had one hit and scored three runs.
- Naomi Albaugh and Serenity Nead each scored two runs.
In Game 2, the Spartans secured a 15-0 shutout. Avery Miller pitched two innings to earn the win, striking out three and walking one before the game was called after the second inning.
Game 2 offensive leaders were:
- Miller had one hit, scored two runs and drove in three.
- Shatova had one hit and scored two runs.
- Brooke Hawke scored one run and drove in four.
- Brielle Cerka had one hit and scored one run.
- Ashley DeLeon had one hit and scored two runs.
Mason County Central will next face Muskegon Orchard View on Tuesday.
