LUDINGTON — Ludington posted a strong showing Thursday, defeating Grant 7-1 in a nonconference girls tennis match.
The Orioles controlled the meet across both singles and doubles play, earning wins in three of four singles flights and sweeping all six doubles flights.
Ava Johnson led the way at No. 1 singles, while Payton Stidham and Khloe Wachowski added victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
Ludington’s doubles teams were dominant throughout the lineup. At No. 1 doubles, Kristi Killips and Ella Micka secured a win, followed by victories from Kennedy Feyer and Lydia Kwietniewski at No. 2, and Amaya Sytek and Maggie Tang at No. 3. Madeline Erndteman and Chloe Vangills completed the sweep at No. 4 doubles.
The Orioles also picked up additional wins in exhibition play, with Isabelle Brower and Aliyah Melin winning at No. 5 doubles, and Milena Barth and Beatrice Metzer earning a victory at No. 6 doubles.
Ludington coach Rob Killips’ squad improves its momentum heading into its next match, scheduled for Saturday at Fruitport.
