LUDINGTON — Ludington Area School District will host an informational meeting later this month for residents interested in serving on the district’s Board of Education.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 29 in the Central Business Office Board Conference Room, 809 E. Tinkham Ave. It is intended to provide community members with a clearer understanding of the roles, responsibilities and expectations associated with board service.
Interim Superintendent Mary Marshall will lead a presentation outlining the legal duties, governance structure and day-to-day impact of school board members. District officials said the session is designed to encourage informed participation from residents considering a leadership role in local education.
Current Board President Stephanie Reed, along with trustees Alan Neushwader and Mike Winczewski, will also attend. The board members will participate in a question-and-answer session to share firsthand perspectives on the challenges and rewards of serving on the board.
“We hope that any individuals who have thought about participating in our school district as a member of the Board of Education will join us to learn more about this important role,” Marshall said. “Local governance is at its best when a diverse group of passionate citizens steps forward to serve our students.”
The informational session comes as the district continues to navigate key leadership decisions, including its ongoing superintendent search. In March, the board narrowed its candidate pool to two finalists as part of that process. More information on that development is available here.
District officials encourage any resident interested in contributing time and expertise to the school community to attend the meeting and learn more about how they can make an impact.
