CUSTER TOWNSHIP — An intruder or intruders broke into a home in the 1000 block of North Schoenherr Road while the homeowners were at work Friday, April 10, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
The break-in was reported around 5 p.m. “The homeowners reported their residence was broken into sometime during the day while they were at work,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “Numerous items were reportedly stolen from the home. The case remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.”
Another break-in was reported Sunday, April 12, shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the 8500 block of East US 10 in Branch Township. “The complainant reported the theft of copper pipes and brass fittings,” said Sheriff Cole.

Friday, April 10, 2026:
- 7:10 a.m., alarm activation, Free Soil Township.
- 12:11 p.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, 4000 block of South Pere Marquette Highway, Summit Township.
- 8:50 p.m., domestic assault, 4700 block of West First Street, Amber Township. A report requesting charges has been forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office following a 911 call reporting an assault. The reported suspect left the scene before the deputies’ arrival.
- 11:48 p.m., alarm activation, Branch Township.
Saturday, April 11, 2026:
- 3:29 a.m., a 44-year-old Scottville man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, Stiles Road and Victory Drive, Victory Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 6:11 p.m., a 53-year-old Branch man was arrested on an outstanding Oceana County failure to appear warrant, 200 block of South Gibson Road, Branch Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
Sunday, April 12, 2026:
- 12:32 a.m., a 33-year-old Fountain man was arrested on an outstanding Mecosta County failure to appear warrant, 6500 block of East Marshall Road, Branch Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 5:12 a.m., alarm activation, Pere Marquette Township.
