SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central hosted Mason County Eastern, Pentwater and Shelby Friday at Spartan Community Field for the revived Scottville Optimist Track & Field Invitational, with the Spartans sweeping both the boys and girls team titles.
The MCC girls team delivered a strong opening performance despite cold, windy conditions, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes and personal records. Maylan Sanders led the Spartans by sweeping the hurdles, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 15.77 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles. Faith Hawke dominated the field events, capturing first place in both the shot put and discus, including a personal-record throw of 104 feet, 7 inches in the discus.

MCC’s relay teams also played a key role in the victory. The 4×200 relay team of Madelyn Sterley, Nevaeh Battice, Reegan Healy and Sanders finished first in 1:55.00, while Sterley, Healy, Battice and Sanders added another win in the 4×400 relay (4:44.94).
Additional strong performances came from Chloe Jabrocki (second in the 100), Aubrey Chye (third in the 100), Healy (second in the 200), Sterley (second in the 800) and Battice (second in the 1,600). Sophia Quick and Alexis Lathrop each recorded multiple personal-best efforts as MCC showed depth across events.
The Spartans boys team matched that success, winning the meet with 192 points. Mason County Eastern placed second with 146 points, followed by Shelby with 104 and Pentwater with 48.
Jackson Poll led MCC with wins in both hurdle events, taking the 110 hurdles (15.78) and 300 hurdles (43.69). Desmond Thomas added a victory in the discus (123-5), while Eli Glamzi won the high jump (5-10). The Spartans also swept three relays, winning the 4×100 (50.00), 4×200 (1:40.39) and 4×400 (4:10.28).
Pentwater turned in a solid showing, earning 26 medals and 14 personal records. Lauren Davis won the 200-meter dash (30.59) and helped the Falcons capture the 4×100 relay (1:00.12). Logan Fatura and Chase McGuire-Vangills each recorded multiple top finishes, with McGuire-Vangills placing second in the 200 (24.62) and third in the long jump (17-3.25).
