LUDINGTON — The Mason County Finance, Personnel and Rules Committee will meet Tuesday, April 7, to consider a range of county business, including millage renewals, budget planning and service contracts.
The meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. in the Mason County Courthouse meeting room, 304 E. Ludington Ave.
Among the key items are two millage renewal requests that will impact countywide services. The committee will consider renewals for Mason-Oceana 911 and the Mason County Road Patrol, both of which provide essential public safety services throughout the region.
Also on the agenda is the consideration of bids for 2026 lawn service contracts for multiple county facilities, including the courthouse, jail, airport, animal control and health department. The committee previously opened nine bids at its March 24 meeting and is expected to review a comparative breakdown of pricing, insurance and bonding before making a recommendation to the full Mason County Board of Commissioners.
Technology infrastructure will also be discussed, including the potential replacement of the county’s BS&A server and backup system, which supports financial and administrative operations.
In addition, commissioners will consider the creation of a housing coordinator position and compensation, reflecting ongoing efforts to address housing-related needs in Mason County.
Environmental and planning matters are also included on the agenda, with discussion scheduled on an agreement for the Household Hazardous Waste program and appointments to the Materials Management Planning Committee.
The committee will also begin discussion on the county’s 2027 preliminary budget, marking an early step in the annual budgeting process.
The Finance, Personnel and Rules Committee is responsible for overseeing the county’s financial operations, personnel matters and administrative policies, and its recommendations are typically forwarded to the full board of commissioners for final approval.
