LHS Charity Week raises over $3,000 for Lakeshore Food 4 Kids

March 26, 2026

LUDINGTON — Ludington High School students raised more than $3,000 for a local nonprofit during the school’s annual Charity Week, organized by the LHS Student Council.

This year’s fundraising effort benefited Lakeshore Food 4 Kids, which was selected after Student Council members nominated several local charities and the student body voted on the final choice.

The weeklong event began with a kickoff assembly featuring fundraising games and concluded with the annual Winter Whirl dance. Throughout the week, students also participated in spirit days, a first-hour donation competition and a prize basket drawing that included items donated by local businesses.

In total, students raised $3,093.57 for Lakeshore Food 4 Kids.

Student body Mayor Taylor Andersen said the enthusiasm of students stood out during the event.

“A highlight of Charity Week for me was seeing all the students’ enthusiasm for the assembly,” Andersen said. “It was really amazing to see.”

Andersen said the cause was especially meaningful because it directly benefits local students.

“This cause was important to the Student Council members and me because we are able to see a change within our school,” Andersen said. “By choosing Lakeshore Food 4 Kids, we are feeding the students of LHS. I am incredibly proud of the outcome of this year’s fundraiser.”
